Yo what up blog readers..
It's been almost 2 weeks and I've got some blog tales to tell, and some pictures to post - so soon as my better half downloads those jammies from the digi-cam..
so keep checking back for some serious updated photo action.
so here's the skinny to fill you in...
a) I finished up my 2 week intensive course, the two week whammy of Data Analysis Workshops 1 and 2: 39 and 43 registered students respectively - it was a blast, great students, TA's who made my work lighter and statistics - a cocktail for fun fer sure.
Alas, I am serious - I REALLY enjoyed doing the course.
b) I know I reported on this before, but Micah is seriously potty trained in like a week and a half - again, its like his walking - he was late on the curve, but when he decided to do it, no fooling, he was ready to go. I really never thought we'd see the day: seriously, i was sure he would be weraing diapers at the prom.
c) I got my pre-order of We Jam Econo, the film about the seminal "punk" band the Minutemen - they were part of the lure for me in the mid-80s along with Husker Du, the Meat Puppets, Void, Minor Threat, Black Flag... when I thought punk was all about mohawks I discovered these bands - and it was folks like, straight up dorks, making their own great music! Seriously, this movie was quite moving - especially, since D. Boon, the founder and guitarist died in a car accident over 20 years ago.
d) This past weekend was fun but HOT - a serious Maryland summer set of days complete with eat and humidity. On Saturday we braved the sun to meet up with Micah's classmate Kellen in Patterson Park for some playground action, duck feeeding and bike riding. On SUnday, Emmet had his first playdate with classmate Eli, and Micah and I went to a brunch at the old-skool Hopkins Club, sponsored by the summer program I taught in (see post A).
e) On Monday the 3rd,, we drove to Tacoma Park, to bbq with Jim, Lily, Joseph and Loren. Bar-b-queing and chillin' ensued in the shadow of Sligo Creek - Micah and Joseph and Loren, Emmet, Patric and Liam played up a mighty storm!
f) The 4th was brutally hot. We stayed in Bmore, and when we got stir crazy in the house we headed down to airport for some air conditioned fun. Why the airport you may ask? Because everyone and their brother was off for the holiday, so other entertainment options were likely packed. Besides, the airport has a bunch of escalators for riding, and a play area complete with child size plane facsimile as well as fake baggage movers- may not sound like fun to you, but Emet and Micah had a blast!
Well that's all for now - but one more thing - the last Johnny Cash release of "American Recordings" is simply wonderful - wat an amazing emotive singer Mr. Cash was.
Oh yeah, and Spongebob continues to move bodies in mosh pits!
Aight, I'm out like tile grout - back at you soon!
