March is upon us!

And so far it's everything I could hope for!

On Wednesday, Mar 1, Emmet officially started walking. He's still doing some walking, some crawling, and his walking is of the Frankenstein nature, but I think he'll be a fast learner. Homey already understands how much more havoc he can wreak if he gets around on two legs!

On Saturday the 4th, I took Emmet out for his deving nap about 9am (as per his schedule he got up at 5 am and was zonked by 9 - but of course he won't nap in his crib). I actually have driven around most of Baltimore City with Emmet, and a few years back Micah - I enjoy this and it gives me an opportunity to see the good and the bad areas- and its kind of staggering how much of the city is blighted. Anyhow, I drove through the most blatant open air drug market I've seen in the city ( we pass it everyday on the way to daycare), and witnessed something I have only seen in the Corner and the Wire - hoards of people running to get free "testers" , ie: samples of a dealer's product. Auto traffic was literally stopped as hoards of fiends jonesing for a hit wantonly ran across the street and into an apartment complex courtyard. I circled the block and saw them all lined up at the mercy of a few dealers.

Later in the moening Gigi and Grandad (aka John's parents) breezed in from Ambler PA to hang out with us for the day. They brought lunch, made the boys and us happy and played for the afternoon.

We went to an off the hook birthday party on Sunday - details to come!

That tester story is pretty sad. But that is poor Baltimore. What really bothers me is that the County folks piss on this city and tend to avoid most of it and hell pay less property taxes though many of them work in the city, and yet never complain about their fine citizens coming to buy their drugs here. I was thinking this b/c of a recent Dan Rodricks column profiling this 55 yr old Towson man who became an addict and (of course) started coming to the city to buy drugs. People perceive Balto as a disgrace to itself, when really it is a state/nat'l disgrace.

sorry about the double posting. i double clicked. john feel free to delete one.

Oh and I think McG's Blog readers should every so often post a comment. It's not much fun for the person blogging to post with no feedback. That and the comments are part of the fun.
